Objectives
This work package aims to compare the
fecundity, ovulation and fertilization
rates of pikeperch breeders held in
different stocking conditions (ponds,
cages and tanks) and the inflence of
breeder stocking conditions on the production
and quality of gametes and larvae.
Description
of work
F eeding with formulated food or with
prey fish
Deliverables
The experiment will be conducted during
two successive years in order to take
into consideration the interannual variations
in pikeperch larval quality. Deliverables
of the 1st and 2nd years will include
the comparison of breeder performances
in terms of fecundity and fertilization
rates as well as egg and larval quality,
after spawning and hatching, respectively,
as well as after one month of rearing
under standardized conditions.
Expected
results and relevant corresponding milestones
The major expected results are:
- an evaluation of the egg and larval
quality in pikeperch reared under semi-natural
conditions (ponds with prey fish) which
can be used as a referential for the
comparison with the other WPs;
- an evaluation of the relative importance
of stocking and feeding conditions on
breeder performances.
