         Partner 2 - Excellence Fish BV- http://www.excellencefish.nl/
Excellence Fish BV is specialised in production of ornamentals and African catfish in recirculation systems. The company gained experience on lab-scale with culture of pike-perch and believes strongly that this species has high potential for diversification of production. A new species is needed badly in fresh water fish farming due to stagnating markets for most species.
Excellence Fish BV therefore initiated and participated in the CRAFT project Lucioperca as SME-coordinator.Within Lucioperca Excellence Fish invested heavily in the production of pikeperch and recognizes without doubt the need for the currently proposed follow up of Lucioperca. Out-of-season spawning and production of high quality eggs and larvae are among the first priorities of Excellence Fish, in order to secure the production of pikeperch juveniles throughout the year. Semen cryopreservation, sex control and production of all-female populations are also considered among the main tasks requiring the collaboration with RTD performers, to enhance the growth rate and increase the profitability of pikeperch culture in recirculated system. Excellence Fish has gained experience in the management of R&D projects and is well-qualified to conduct rearing trials on pilot-scale in a recirculation system.
Allocation of manpower
One aquaculture manager, two technicians and one secretary will work part time to the project
Allocation of equipment
Tanks (capacities ranging from 0.1 to several m3) from two recirculating farms will be dedicated to the project. Breeders will be maintained in special rooms with controlled temperature and photoperiod conditions for out-of-season and normal spawnings. Fingerling production will be done in intensive nursery, including larval rearing tanks and Artemia incubation tanks. Pikeperch is a species of first priority for Excelfish and facilities will be allocated according to the needs of the project.
